The Sorcerous Kingdom of Eglas is a elvish gerontocracy run by the eldest of the sorcerers (or -esses) in the nation. Disparate groups in Eglas are locally controlled by an elder sorcerer, who acts with broad authority stemming from the trannual gathering of elders called the elders-moot. These elders either come to a elders-moot themselves or send a proxy. Traditionally, the next in line to the elder's position is sent as the proxy. In times of great change, disaster, or war, the elders-moot may be called more often. The elders-moot always takes place in the capital, Tase.
The Sorcerous Kingdom of Eglas covers an area of 45 thousand square miles. Of this, 45% (20 thousand sq. miles) is arable land, and 54% (24 thousand sq. miles) is wilderness.
The Sorcerous Kingdom of Eglas has a total population of 3.6 million people. Mostly elves, half-lings and gnomes. Humans, though less common, are still regularly seen throughout Eglas.
The largest city has a population of 26 thousand people, the second largest 13 thousand. There are no other cities of note in the kingdom, and 14 towns. The remaining population lives in numerous small villages, isolated dwellings, etc.
Tase, the Tent City, is the largest city in Eglas and the only permanent one. This is the site where the elders-moot takes place every three years, and where decisions regarding the Kingdom are made. It is called the Tent City because most of the inhabitants live in tents and only stay there on a transient basis.
The Sorcerous Kingdom of Eglas has 72 active castles and 13 ruined. Of these, 51 castles and 10 ruined are in civilized lands, and 21 castles and 3 ruined are in the wilderness, along borders, etc.
